My Chinese friend Nie Ke came to visit the Northeast from Wash
U for a few days. I picked her up on Wednesday morning from
Wesleyan and we hung out at Yale that day, eating lunch and
dinner with her other Chinese summer program students. My
suitemate Ray Park then drove Nie Ke, Esther Lee, Emily Chen,
and me home that night. We broke down on the Jersey turnpike
around 11 PM, got towed, and my dad picked us up from a Jersey
rest stop. These were the last few days.

We went to Philadelphia to put Nie Ke on a
Chinatown bus headed for New York, then Boston.
