"They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law."
(Mark 1:21-22)
Authority: "The power to enforce laws, exact obedience, command, determine, or judge", from French, autorite, "book or quotation that settles an argument," (c. 1230), from
Author: "One who sets forth written statements," from Latin, autor, "father", "one who causes to grow," from Latin, augere, "to increase".
So, authority, at least in some vague etymological degree, means the power or quality of the father. ehhhhh

Too fly (B.Son)
These joints straddle dichotomies in couture... East (neckline cuts) meets West (fabrication + production), made to measure (bespoke from pattern) meets ready-to-wear. I don't know if it's streetwear, per se (it's not), but these gears are straight proper in my book. The price tag is on the steep side, but pictures weigh up to a kilogram of words, so take your own look:
Double Mock Fleece Pullover (Stallion)
Look at that!! Double neck, zip and button-up...
...and zips on the sleeves, too
Strong framing of the shoulderblades, with just enough draping over
the waist for a baggy but fitted look.
"B.Son's ideas have developed around high quality fabrics, (including a strong organics program), articulated necklines, and a proportionately fitted block." - B.Son Clothing SF
MSRP is $163, available at various online and brick-and-mortar retailers. Christmas/birthday coming up... might got to cop. It's a lot, but quality > quantity.

Autumn Daze
Tuesday11.4.2008
As I was waiting around for Dan, studying in the CCL
Cafe, I ran into Jess Chang.
Jess and I have known one another since our freshman
year, when I was taking the same four classes as one
of her suitemates. As some of the few kids still hanging
around Yale that arrived the same time that I did, it's
always good to see her or her boyfriend David.
Wednesday11.5.2008
Waiting outside of Commons for lunch with Janice, I
was approached by a Japanese lady who, judging from
her utilization of the Japanese language in attempting
to communicate with me had, it seems, confused me
for one of her own people.
Score.
In commemoration of this confused conflation of
national (and likely sartorial) identities, I captured the
moment in photographic form.
I hear they live the 'lo life in Japan too...
Agnes is another friend whose freshman year
schedule fell congruent to mine. Now in a grad math
program, she came through the city to kick it, albeit
briefly.
Having crashed the previous night on Vic's couch (as is often my
habit), I headed up the hill for the late morning, to get some work
in and switch up the gears.
The colors of my yard.
Not bad.
The Starberry Starburst Court Force lows.
Nancy, another Yale 2008 friend, has found herself
working in CT for the time being; after a few failed
attempts, we finally connected again. At East
Melange, as is the local custom.
Taro bubble tea.
Singapore Hell Soup... finna clear your sinuses out,
and fast.
After kicking it for a few hours, Nancy and I parted ways and I
headed over to the basement of Davenport, to celebrate Emily's
(secretive) birthday.
Ben was demonstrating to Emily Self-Defense.
Everyone fly in my Bape gears (especially Taryn
though).
Happy birthday, Moh lei.

UCW football / Halloween
Saturday10.25.2008
For no particular reason other than coordination and fortunate
happenstance, a series - a parade, if you would - of alumni came
through New Haven during parents' weekend.
And you know there's no alumni trip to Yale complete without a trip
through Yorkside; so Grace put out the call, and various friends
assembled around noon.
'07.
Ben looks... engaged.
That Saturday was also the day of the UCW-Impact
football game. I don't ball like that (I prefer to keep my
ballin game on point for styling and profiling, breaking
necks with the Game and not via games), but I kept it
thorough by riding shotgun.
All on this tiny field.
The UCW spectator contingent. Boasting 100% of the female
attendance for the day, holla.
After a hard-won ([||]) victory on our side, we headed back to
campus and David Lee treated all to Popeye's tailgating package.
Joints was madd good.
Jesse and Garrett showed up at some point to holla at Mikey.
Some of the most delight I've seen on Vic's 脸上.
Most Monday and Wednesday nights, I kick it at Vic's place. Living
right off Old Campus, the site of our nightly prayer meetings, he
has the accessibility to campus that would be a huge plus for me in
my line of work. Second-best to me having that spot though is having
the carte blanche to come through his spot on the regulack.
The view from above, in the early AM.
Pardon me, I had to laugh at that
Halloween.
Zach as The Dude, of course.
Every Thanksgiving, the Yale Symphony Orchestra
puts on a big production - filming their own
screenplay, they perform a live score. It's something
of a Thing on-campus.
For my Bible Study homeboys Justin - new to the
area - and Aaron, this sounded like an offer to
investigate. Hooking them (and some of Justin's co-
workers) up with tickets, we rolled out like that.
Great Gatsby.
Alaskan (the tee is from Alaska...) explorer.
Hot Rod and... Aaron's wife had the sense not to dress
up. Cool people don't dress up...
After an impromptu guided tour of Yale on the way back to
Justin's place, pointing out the various local spots of interest
profiled in the YSO film, I split and headed out to join company
with various UCW students.

SNEAKER FIENDS UNITE! - The Hunt...
(welcome and ayooo to any new visitors via D P dot comm)
"...Two weekends ago, I in the company of a few others of select character, hit up a Saturday morning road trip. The destination: Clinton Premium Outlets, on Exit 63 of Interstate 95. Other than a quick excursion into the ‘Lo store (more on that later), the objective was clear and distinct: Nike Factory Store...."
